number88 – a collaboration between Brighton-based photographers Andy Deighton and Lauren Chauvin.
Photography has been our hidden joy for many years and then in 2008 we decided to exhibit our personal work during Brighton’s Artists Open Houses season – part of the Brighton Festival. The exhibition attracted over 1200 visitors that year, and when we displayed all-new work in 2009, even more people attended.
Since then we’ve shot weddings in Regency buildings and in people’s back gardens; produced fashion work on a freezing beach; filmed the transformation of an empty shell into a thriving office; created off-the-wall corporate teamshots and documented the months leading upto the birth of twins. But our passion, which we return to again and again, is portraiture. With the opportunities it gives us to meet new people, to interact with others from different backgrounds and with different stories, portraiture goes beyond photography.
